My Friend Dahmer

Derf Backderf portrays a unique image of infamous serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer.  Told from his own perspective as Dahmer’s classmate in school, Backderf paints a picture of a young man struggling to fit in at school and with a multitude of problems at home.  The story, told through a graphic novel, places in the reader a certain amount of sympathy for a person who would usually draw anything but that emotion.

The Notorious Benedict Arnold: A Tree Story of Adventure, Heroism, and Treachery

This biography is packed with first-person accounts of the events that lead Benedict Arnold from being one of America’s heroes to an infamous traitor.  The style of writing draws the reader into a setting of American history that reads more like a fiction novel.  The book is truly intriguing to read and is packed full of historical events resulting in the perfect combination of entertainment with learning value.
